I am interested in what other Canadians have to say about discount brokerages in Canada. I have been with Ameritrade Canada however, they have been taken over by TD Waterhouse. I'm sure I'll lose my $10.95 trades once this takes effect. I am considering Questrade; any thoughts?

OTC stocks are for trading imo not 'investing'.

I trade on line with Penntrade.  The fee is $29.95 per trade with every tenth trade free.  I trade Canadian stocks as well as US equally easy.

I should have mentioned that is with any size trade and any stock as well as pink sheets.  The actual cost comes to about $26.95 per trade whan you start getting the free trade.

Are you satisfied with them? Questrade is actually Canadian and offer $10.95 (may even be $9.95) for any size trade. With them being Canadian you are not restricted to the daytrading rule. For a margin account you only need $2000.00 to open an account. The only negatives that I can discover so far is that level 2 isn't free and the Firefox Browser isn't accepted. I just sent the paperwork in to Questrade so hope for the best.

Forget Questrade/ Very misleading. They say $9.95 per trade but then they add on 1/2cent they say is charged by whoever bought/sold the shares like Schwab. I'm totally freaked out with this.

I have the same problem.  I have Brown & Co stock brokerage,   I pay $10 for 5000 shares limit.  which is just right for me
but they are being bought out by Etrade,  I looked at their prices and it will cost $68 for the same trade.   I was looking at
ameritrade but you said it is being purchased  bytd-waterhouse.
E-Trade= $19.99 for trade + $3 fee + 1.5 cents for each share over 2000.
So I need a new brokerage in the USA. They will need to take all my accounts. IRA, ROTH, CASH.
