OTC stocks are for trading imo not 'investing'.

I think this could be a good thread for discussion about various pink/otc stocks and how to trade profitably.  I'm not talking about buy and hold "investing"....but rather about actively buying and selling.  The reason being, in my opinion the vast majority of OTC/Pink stocks are 'zero' value....either they're losing way too much money, or they're issuing way too many shares...or both.

I have some thoughts on the matter but I'll leave them aside for the moment.  We can talk about specific stocks or in general terms if anyone is interested.

If you look at my tag line....

"If you want to taste the fruit, you have to go out on a limb.  But if you wait for the herd to move out on the limb....the branch tends to snap".

That basically encapsulates my opinion of much of the OTC/Pink market.  Promoters/Analysts/Shills get hired...and people desperate to make some $$$ (out of want or need) storm in and the PPS for the hyped stock often climbs exponentially...Then, inevitably (look at AOOR's chart for an extreme example) the PPS starts pulling back.  Now the question of what to do comes....sell???  hold???  hold and buy more???

Alot of people will hold and buy more convinced they can buy their way out of a bad situation..."it has to eventually rebound back to my average cost"......

IMO to make significant gains you have to get in on one BEFORE the pump....which takes alot of research, and a fair degree of luck.  If a stock has been trading down with no promotion and precious little news for 1 or 2 years....imo there's probably a good chance it'll get pumped at some point (especially if there are authorized shares not yet in the float)....but timing it can be difficult if not impossible.  If a pump is coming...the timing is up to the manipulators looking to pump the stock.

Alot of people will radar a lot of stocks...and try to jump in when it looks like they're getting moved up, with an eye to getting in and out quickly.  But if you buy when the promoters scream "GAME ON" you run the risk of having to chase to get a decent fill in my opinion....which can lead to getting bagged.

All in all it's a very hard game...but playing is fun.

That's an excellent question...and the method I prefer (I'd welcome additional opinions) is to look at recent pumps, stocks with horrible balance sheets and no history of delivering shareholder value over the long term, that have gone on to make 10 bagger + gains.  Some recent examples that spring immediately to mind are MSEP, CYOS, ITCV (now ITEC), SHRN, AOOR....these are just a few.

I try to get a snap shot of what their share structure was "BEFORE" hired promoters are engaged to attract investors.  I've also noticed that there's typically precious little (and often zero) news for months before a good pump.  The chart can also provide an indication imo, as you'll often see a sudden spurt of trading (for no clearly visible reason) before a pump starts in my opinion.

thanks.  Most of the stocks I see are with this comment "it now changed to ....ob in the back"...what does that mean?

another comment I saw on IDWS..it's now trying to go to ottcc? what's difference of pinksheet and ottcc?

sorry I ask a lot of questions but it's just new and fun to me - the world of investments...

otc companies report (quarterly and anual filings, 10Q 10K etc)....pink sheets are non reporting and thus can be more difficult to get info on, share structure, finances etc.

Beware forward looking statements, they're no assurance.  Just because a company "anticipates" or is "expecting" something...doesn't mean it'll happen.  Often though it is good enough to pump up the PPS.

Thanks.  I found some stocks that is up one day and then down the next day and up again...and then down on good news...very strange...

For example...KNOT...it's been up for about a week and suddenly went down even with good news...

I feel IDWS and ICAN are two good ones to keep.....any suggestion?

Personally I avoid Pink stocks...that's just my choice.  The reason being is I like to get a handle on the share structure, and with pinks not reporting that is difficult.

As for stocks that "swing"...back and forth and back again...maybe someone who's experienced at swing trading can chime in.  A lot depends on volume if you're swing trading though I think....there needs to be sufficient volumes to allow for a position sizeable enough to make it profitable.

Good luck.
