So oil went above 67 again yesterday amid fears of anouther huricane... I personally don't think much oil production will be disrupted by it, but as we all know in the futures market it's not what will happen, or even what you think withll happen, but what you think others will think will happen... people are going to freak about every little storm that ventures near the USA now, which will probally add anouther natural disaster fear premium to the $10 terrorist fear premium already on oil. so who knows... this is a crazy time to invest in oil... my personal opinion is that you don't stand to lose a lot of money in oil very quickly, however substantial gains are very possiable in the short term.

Oil hit its 10 week low yesterday at $60.35/barell. I would be surprised if the price dips below 60, but again, who knows... too bad (ha ha ha I'm an awful person) the eathquake didnt hit any really rich oil countries or we probally would have seen an effect on the price. I wonder if it had any effect of the poppy seed market. Heck anyone know how to get into the Opium market or Heroin... I of cource am joking... however this sort of illistrates my point of how much of an effect nature has on the price of commodities.

Fine, since no one gave me any Opium hook- ups I guess I'll have to try rekindleing the oil thread...

I was just wondering people opinions on drilling in the Alaskin National Park... whatever it's called. It probally wouldnt have much effect on the price of oil, probally not even a dollar, but it would be anouther supply and hopefully, due to its stable location brung a little more stability to the NA Oil Market...  Now the real question is will this economic impact be worth the inevitable negative impact it would have on the enviroment? Personally I am of the solid belif that this oil resource will inevitably be teaken advantage of, and no time is as good as now, the only thing I'm not sure I'm willing to tollerate is the annoyance of having to see oil covered baby seals being hugged by some hippie inturpting my commercial watching... Plus its the law that the area must be returned to its natural state once the resource is depleated. So theres my opinion, what's everyone else's...

NA Oil should be decently strong throught the winter, caused by oil heating usage. If more is used than expected look to see some growth. Oil should get a boost from news (at least north of the border) that natural gas prices are looking like they will be hiked about 26%, so that alternative energy source is looking like it might not be as much of a steal as origionally thought. Of cource every day other alternative energy sources are being bettered, constantly batteling the price of oil. I'd certainly look forward to the release of the next Oil reserves measurment in the US of A, if there is less than thought it will certainly be a positive thing.

yeah, I personally have an oil stove at home. It is still more expensive than electric heat, but it's really incomparable.

I know the cost of gasoline has skyrocketed around here, which is quite related to the price of oil... Oil has been very unprodictable as of late, but its mostly because there hasnt been any news to affect it in a constant direction as of late...

If you wanted a solid investment you could stock up on oil commodities now, and hold until hurricane season (this fall). I think you could easily get 15%-20% gains on your money, and it is a pretty safe bet.

I don't think you need to invest right now, I personally would wait until after the winter heating demand dies down, but before summer tourist season...

if you did that you could probably do better on your returns, but I think you could still make 15%-20% on oil commodies if you bought now, as oil is still reasonably cheap.

Oil has been perticlaury volitile latley, for no really reason other than foolish fears about the price spiking and other people and organizations fighting to bring the price down. If you're into getting in and out quickly I think there is money to be made.

well, I'm holding CHK for the longest time,
bought at $8.00+ and now at $32.75.
Oil will always be volitile, but I will hold CHK . ( pays me a Div. )

Yeah, my dad bought some stock in an alberta oil sands company a what ago that went from like 20 to 125... friggin jerk... he's not even smart lol... he invested 20g... if only i had the foresight... so i guess who is tha smart one? Btw i still thin investment in any alberta oil sand is a good move... they are supposted to be the worlds best supply for oil in the future, but they are just becoming really good now because refining is expensive and becoming more cost effective as the price goes up...
